Rationale

These videos are traditional lecture substitutes, broken up into short segments for ease of digestion. Related videos are organised with an explicit structure, and learning outcomes are provided to guide students or teachers. Mayer’s principles of visual learning were employed in the design of these videos.

How is the resource used

These videos were designed as part of a first year undergraduate course in physics. They are modular as they are intended to fit within an online course environment, and accompany tutorial questions, quizzes and exams. The videos were embedded within quizzes, students would watch the video and then answer a related problem.

Student evaluation

This resource has been used with students in a large (~300 student) first year undergraduate physics course at the University of New South Wales. It was well received.
