Mathematics Pathways for VET students – new online courses

Maths 01

The Mathematics Pathways website has been developed from an Office for Learning and Teaching project, ’Development of mathematical pathways for VET students to articulate to related higher education courses’.  This project is led by Prof Sue Kilpatrick from the University of Tasmania with partners Flinders University, James Cook University and the University of Notre Dame Australia, as well as their VET counterparts TasTAFE, TAFE SA, West Coast Institute and Tropical North Queensland TAFE .

Partner Universities and VET institutions have worked together to develop pathways which improve the readiness of students entering into specific university courses in  engineering, education, business and health science.  The pathways incorporate real world /contextualised maths applications that align to the VET experience of students and bridge the gap between common VET qualifications and related higher education courses.  Use of these pathways will increase the success of VET articulating students by building mathematics confidence, skill and readiness for their chosen field of study.  The mathematics pathways website is an Open Education Resource and free to all users.

The pathways can be found at http://www.utas.edu.au/mathematics-pathways/.
